ebaa8ff7f9 util: updated doc of spdk_put_io_channel
Patch 5533c3d2 changed spdk_put_io_channel behavior without updating the
docs. This patch fixes that.

Fixes: 5533c3d208 ("util: defer put_io_channel")

f71447e80d bdev: remove differentiation between bdev and vbdev modules
We still will sort the bdev_module list so that modules
with an examine() callback are initialized first. This ensures
they have a chance to initialize before later modules start
registering physical block devices.

7fefd60fab bdev: make module init synchronous again
Module initializaiton was made asynchronous recently
to support bdev modules like gpt which need to do
asynchronous I/O. But all modules now do any
asynchronous I/O in their examine() routines, and
init functions only do very basic operations to be
ready to handle examine() callbacks.

So simplify the bdev code and modules to go back to
a synchronous init procedure.

dd06e98d4a bdev: rename blockdev instances to bdev
This includes file names, functions, #defines, etc.
There are still a few uses of "blockdev" outside of
include/ and lib/ - these can be handled later.

This preps for a future patch to consolidate vbdev
modules and bdev modules into just bdev modules.

4fc7e66614 bdev: add vbdev claim/release semantics
vbdev modules still open/close bdevs as normal, but
should open bdevs read only when tasting (i.e. reading
the GPT to see if there are SPDK partitions). When
a vbdev module is ready to claim the bdev for purposes
of creating virtual bdevs on top of it, it calls
spdk_vbdev_module_claim_bdev().  It can pass its
open descriptor as well to have it promoted to
write access (required for future vbdev modules like
logical volumes).

Note: error vbdev was changed to copy the base bdev
parameters one-by-one instead of a blind memcpy - we
do not want to copy the base bdev's vbdev_claim_module
into the new bdev!

e075a3dc7a bdev: track number of outstanding examinations
Add a new spdk_vbdev_module_examine_done() API which
vbdev modules can use to notify the generic bdev layer
once a base bdev examination is complete.

This is especially required for asynchronous vbdevs
like GPT which must issue I/O to the base bdev.

As part of this patch, add examine callbacks
for both split and error, which for now only call
this new functions. Later patches will move code from
the init callback to the examine callback for these
modules. examine callbacks are now required for all
vbdev modules.

This allows to change it depending on which appliation is using

Please note that for SPDK vhost SAS protocol id is used,

13f8cf1536 nvme: add NVME_QUIRK_DELAY_AFTER_QUEUE_ALLOC
The VirtualBox emulated NVMe device will intermittently
hang on the first read/write command after an I/O
qpair has been allocated. The frequency of the hang
diminishes if a delay is added after allocating the I/O
qpair - until it disappears completely with a 100us delay.
So add a quirk to insert this delay.

Note - the 100us delay was tested by running
the hello_world example app 50000 times.

1dbf53eebf vhost: add a library and app for userspace vhost-scsi processing
This patch adds a library, application and test scripts for extending
SPDK to present virtio-scsi controllers to QEMU-based VMs and
process I/O submitted to devices attached to those controllers.
This functionality is dependent on QEMU patches to enable
vhost-scsi in userspace - those patches are currently working their
way through the QEMU mailing list, but temporary patches to enable
this functionality in QEMU will be made available shortly through the
SPDK github repository.

4404793d09 string: make spdk_parse_ip_addr() params non-const
The host and port output parameters point into the (non-const) char *ip,
so it makes more sense for them to be non-const as well.

This allows the flexibility to pass non-const char pointers as the
output parameters, which will be used in the nvmf_tgt/conf.c parsing
code.

4a1d47ebea barrier: add compiler barrier and use it in MMIO
spdk_compiler_barrier() prevents the compiler from moving pointer
dereferences across the barrier.

Use this in the MMIO helper functions to ensure that the compiler can't
reorder operations around e.g. hardware register access.

Specifically, this fixes the compiler optimizing out writes to
g_thread_mmio_ctrlr in the NVMe hotplug handling code.
