4036f95bf8 thread: return int from spdk_thread_seng_msg
This at least allows the caller to know there was a
problem, and that the messages wasn't actually sent.

SPDK by default creates huge rings so this problem
should never occur, but out-of-tree use cases may
send messages much more often and require at least
a notification when it fails.

While here, change the thread check to an assert.
There's no need to work around someone calling
this function with a null thread parameter.

Fixes issue #811.

0a04c076ea nvmf: Add context parameter to new_qpair() callback
It can be useful for passing additional information about nvmf
target to a handler for new nvmf connections. Context can be
stored in globals as it is currently done in nvmf code. However
in case of multiple targets or languages where accessing global
state is challenging (i.e. Rust), this becomes inconvenient.

4c10e0bbca blobfs/fuse: put FUSE code in module blobfs_bdev
FUSE operations in blobfs_fuse.c are extracted from
test/blobfs/fuse/fuse.c to blobfs_fuse.c in module blobfs_bdev.
And it is extended to create one new thread dedicatedly for one
FUSE mountpoint to handle FUSE requests by blobfs sync API.

spdk_blobfs_bdev_mount is implemented as the export API. So
related code can be utilized by other modules/apps.

Now test/blobfs/fuse/fuse.c is much simplified with function
spdk_blobfs_bdev_mount.

b85881ec7c lib/event: remove app.c dependency from subsystem initialization
This change adds return code to spdk_subsystem_init().
Making it's caller responsible for handling application
state - such as calling spdk_app_stop().

This change implies that start_subsystem_init RPC does not
stop the application on failure, only reports back the error.

Renamed g_app_start/stop variables to now more relevant
g_subsystem_start/stop.

79ed1ba18d bdev: Add spdk_bdev_open_ext function
This patch adds new interface for opening bdev and
implements new style remove event. With that changes
user can be notified about different types of events
that occur in regards to bdev. spdk_bdev_open_ext
function uses bdev name as an argument instead of bdev
structure to remove race condition where user gets
the bdev structure and bdev is removed after getting
that structure and before open function is called.

spdk_bdev_open is now deprecated.

68e7da44ec bdev/compress: add RPC to list orphaned comp bdevs
The previous patch in this series introduced the notion of an

a missing PMEM file. This RPC allows applications to list
orphaned comp bdevs as they will not show up with get_bdevs
because they are not registered bdevs.

f8433aad23 rpc/nvmf: add tgt_name options to relevant RPCs.
All of the RPCs in lib/nvmf/nvmf_rpc.c rely on knowing which nvmf_tgt
they should work with. They have historically relied on the assumption
that there will only be a single target in a given application. This is
true for the example application in the spdk repo, but it is not
necessarily true generally,

By adding an option tgt_name parameter to the RPCs we enable them for
multi-target NVMe-oF applications. We also further reduce the coupling
between the library and the example application.

2226750a7c nvme: add an option 'no_shn_notification' to driver
spdk_nvme_detach() will do the normal shutdown notification for
most cases, and it will take some time e.g. 2 seconds to finish
the process for PCIe based controllers. If users' environment
has several drives, each drive will call spdk_nvme_detach() one
by one, and the shutdown process may take very long time.

Since users know exactly what they would like to do for the next
step, so here we provide an option to users, users can enable it
to skip the shutdown notification process so that they can have
very quick shutdown process, and when starting next time, the
controller can be enabled again.

e2c0d9a294 rpc: fix nvmf_create_transport c2h_success option.
This option was intended to enable the user to disable the c2h_option,
but because of the way arguments filter down through the python script,
it was actually impossible to disable the optimization.
My understanding is that typically we will want to keep this
optimization enabled on most systems, but the option should work like it
says it does.

Also, align the implementation of this function with the other ones on
the RPC i.e. use the store_true, store_false paradigm.

6629202cbd nvmf/tcp: Use the success optimization by default
By now (5.1 is released), the Linux kernel initiator supports the
success optimization and further, the version that doesn't support
it (5.0) was EOL-ed. As such, lets open it up @ spdk by default.

Doing so provides a notable performance improvement: running perf with
iodepth of 64, randread, two threads and block size of 512 bytes for 60s
("-q 64 -w randread -o 512 -c 0x5000 -t 60") over the VMA socket acceleration
library and null backing store, we got 730K IOPS with the success
optimization vs 550K without it.

IOPS MiB/s Average min max
549274.10 268.20 232.99 93.23 3256354.96
728117.57 355.53 175.76 85.93 14632.16

To allow for interop with older kernel initiators, we added
a config knob under which the success optimization can be
enabled or disabled.
