87c59b28a3 virtio_blk: add dump opts
Currently we do not have a way to dump opts
for virtio_blk transports. This patch introduces
necessary changes to let us save and load those
via JOSN config.

376c25ed0c lib/vhost: use user_dev's lock to protect vhost sessions
`spdk_vhost_dev` is created|deleted via RPC or APIs, and
we use a global `spdk_vhost_lock` to protect it, but for
some other places such as: vhost-user message processing,
we also use the global lock for now, actually we don't
need to use this lock, because these vhost-user messages
processing will not delete nor add vhost devices.

While here, we add a `spdk_vhost_user_dev` access lock to
protect vhost-user message processing as an optimization.

25d55f48c1 vhost: add (set|get)_coalescing to backend interface
The current code for setting/getting coalescing setting only works with
vhost-user devices, while users can create virtio-blk devices with
non-vhost-user transport.  Calling spdk_vhost_(set|get)coalescing() on
such device results in a segfault.

So, spdk_vhost_dev_backend interface is extended with methods to
set / get coalescing parameters. In the following patch, the virtio_blk
interface will be also extended with similar callbacks allowing us to
pipe coalescing settings to the appropriate transport.

327d1c988d vhost: defer vhost_dev_unregister until scsi tgts removed
Currently when a vhost-scsi controller is removed, it
calls spdk_vhost_scsi_dev_remove_tgt on all remaining
targets, and then immediately calls vhost_dev_unregister.
But this path goes into vhost_user_dev_unregister which
immediately returns with error if there are any pending
async operations - and there are since scsi_dev_remove_tgt
is asynchronous.

So instead add the vhost_dev_unregister call to
remove_scsi_tgt, so that the unregister only happens
after the last ref goes away.

This requires changing vhost_fini() to no longer
assume that spdk_vhost_dev_remove() will immediately
unregister the device, since it now happens
asynchronously.  Previously vhost_fini() was making
this assumption erroneously - it would call g_fini_cb
without actually checking that the devices had been
unregistered. Because of that incorrect assumption,
we need to do both the vhost and vhost-scsi changes
in the same patch.

a6dbe3721e update Intel copyright notices
per Intel policy to include file commit date using git cmd
below. The policy does not apply to non-Intel (C) notices.

git log --follow -C90% --format=%ad --date default <file> | tail -1

and then pull just the 4 digit year from the result.

Intel copyrights were not added to files where Intel either had
no contribution ot the contribution lacked substance (ie license
header updates, formatting changes, etc). Contribution date used
"--follow -C95%" to get the most accurate date.

Note that several files in this patch didn't end the license/(c)
block with a blank comment line so these were added as the vast
majority of files do have this last blank line. Simply there for
consistency.

488570ebd4 Replace most BSD 3-clause license text with SPDX identifier.
Many open source projects have moved to using SPDX identifiers
to specify license information, reducing the amount of
boilerplate code in every source file. This patch replaces
the bulk of SPDK .c, .cpp and Makefiles with the BSD-3-Clause
identifier.

Almost all of these files share the exact same license text,
and this patch only modifies the files that contain the
most common license text. There can be slight variations
because the third clause contains company names - most say
"Intel Corporation", but there are instances for Nvidia,
Samsung, Eideticom and even "the copyright holder".

Used a bash script to automate replacement of the license text
with SPDX identifier which is checked into scripts/spdx.sh.

b727e804d6 vhost: add virtio_blk abstraction
This patch adds virtio_blk abstraction for custom transports,
with the 'vhost_user_blk' first one being used.

Added spdk_virtio_blk_transport_ops describing the nessecary
callbacks to be implemented by each transport.
Please use SPDK_VIRTIO_BLK_TRANSPORT_REGISTER to register the transport.
Transports can use virtio_blk_process_request() to process the
incoming I/O from their queues.

virtio_blk_create_transport RPC was added to create one of the
registered transports, possibly with custom JSON arguments.

Added 'transport' argument to vhost_create_blk_controller RPC,
to specify which transport should create the controller.
By default the vhost_user_blk transport is used.

c706c20c50 lib/vhost: move pending_async_op_num from generic vhost
pending_async_op_num is specific to vhost_user.
To prepare for virtio_blk transport abstraction,
checking for the pending operations is moved to vhost_user
specific code from vhost_blk.

Ideally the vhost_user_dev_unregister() should be the only
function that checks this field, but due to
order of calls in vhost_scsi it needs to remain there separetly.
This should not pose any issue, as vhost_scsi is still dependent
directly on vhost_user.

that focues on rte_vhost specific functionality.
Renamed with vhost_user_* prefix to match the file.

Since the rte_vhost functions are still called directly from
vhost.c, temporarily they are added to vhost_internal.h.
Once implementing virtio transport abstraction is complete,
some will be removed and others will be replaced with
a generic callback structure.

130dc6d1e9 lib/vhost: remove searching for controller by full path
A somewhat hidden functionality was present in spdk_vhost_dev_find().
Caller could match a vhost controller by controller name (socket filename)
or by full path to the socket.
This function is used by vhost RPC too.

The functionality of matching by full path was not documented,
nor matches what is presented in spdk_vhost_dev_get_name()
or vhost_get_controllers RPC.

This patch removes this functionality as part of series
to enable non-vhost-user type controllers, which might
not use the path to sockets.

ba32ee2b29 vhost: set timeout for session's stop_poller
If there is still some inflight IO which prevents
vhost_session_stop_done(), stop_poller can try
within 4 seconds, and then call vhost_session_stop_done

This can avoid endless blocking in ctrl pthread if there
is no response from vhost session or its backend bdev.
Then spdk vhost target can still serve all other vhost
devices and operations besides the error one.

1f9c7a74bc vhost: stop started session in session_shutdown
DPDK vhost will call `new_device` when the VRINGs are
queue paired(virtio-net) or all the VRINGs are started.
However, for virtio-blk/scsi, SeaBIOS will only use one
VRING queue, DPDK added a workaround patch to add
`pre_msg_handle` and `post_msg_handle` callbacks to let
devices other than virtio-net to process such scenarios.

In SPDK, we will start the device when there is one valid
VRING, so there is a case that SPDK and DPDK have different
state for one device. For a virtio-scsi device, SeaBIOS will
only start the request queue, and in the BIOS stage, SPDK will
start the device but DPDK doesn't think so. If users killed
SPDK vhost target at the moment, in `session_shutdown`, SPDK
will expect DPDK to call `destroy_device` to do the cleanup,
but DPDK won't do that as it thinks the device isn't started.

Here in `session_shutdown`, SPDK will do this first, it's OK
that DPDK will call another `destroy_device` for devices that
have the same state both in SPDK and DPDK.

Fix issue #2228.

ce9efeda3a lib/vhost: set g_vhost_core_mask to all cores rather than threads
spdk_vhost_init() relies on having a thread on each reactor.
Every vhost controller could be created on the same core and

This has happened before, see patch (7cc83b62).

This patch modifies the g_vhost_core_mask to match the actual

Extract _spdk_thread_exit() from spdk_thread_exit() and
_spdk_thread_poll() calls _spdk_thread_exit() if the thread is in
the exiting state. spdk_thread_exit() changes to move the state to
the exiting state. The spdk_thread_poll() loop will end after the
thread moves to the exited state because the caller of

If the user does not call spdk_thread_exit() explicitly, the reactor
has to terminate all existing threads at its shutdown. In this case,
multiple threads may have some dependency to release I/O channels or
unregister pollers. So the reactor has the large two loops, the first
loop calls spdk_thread_exit() on all threads, the second loop calls
spdk_thread_destroy() if exited or spdk_thread_poll() otherwise for
each thread until all threads are destroyed.

Besides, change the return value of spdk_thread_exit() to return
always 0. Keep it for ABI compatibility. Change ERRLOG to INFOLOG
for _spdk_thread_exit() because it is called repeatedly now. Remove
the check of I/O reference count from _spdk_thread_exit() because
_free_thread() cannot free I/O channel. Refine the unit test
accordingly.

Fixes issue #1288.
