Allow transports to specify a default UINT32_MAX
as the buf_cache_size. If user does not override this
when creating the transport, calculate the buf_cache_size
dynamically using the number of poll groups and the
size of the buffer pool (num_shared_buffers). We will
allocate 75% of the buffers for the caches, meaning
the buf_cache_size will be calculated as:
(num_shared_buffers * 3 / 4) / num_poll_groups

Depending on the number of cores there are sporadic issues getting
elements of that pool although free elements are there during poll
group creation. Operation returns -ENOBUF. It results in odd notice
msg.
"nvmf_transport_poll_group_create: *NOTICE*: Unable to reserve the
full number of buffers for the pg buffer cache. Decrease the number of
cached buffers from 455 to 1366"
In this case 1366 is the actual number of available elements in the
pool. Few poll groups suceeds and few are ending up with the buffer
cache size set to 0.
Issue has been rootcaused as bug or behaviour change in DPDK v22.01.
Consider example:
We create DPDK mempool with 4K buffers, cache of 256. When first poll
group requests 512 buffers, DPDK mempool first looks in its per-core
cache, sees no buffers (mempool buffer cache doesn't get prepopulated)
and then requests 512 + 256 buffers from the backing pool. It returns
512 of the buffers to the user, and puts the other 256 buffers in the
cache ...it should only request 512 buffers total. For 8 cores and 512
buffers requested only 5 cores will get their buffers.
Disabling mempool cache seems to workaround the issue. More effective
cache is already implemented on nvmf generic layer.

An example of async operation which can be handled on specific
transport layer could be creation of spdk thread followed by
a poller registration.
This change also aligns with transport destroy which is already
async operation.
Current transport create function is marked deprecated and is meant
for transports supporting sync create only to maintain backward
compatibility. Async version supports both create operations.

per Intel policy to include file commit date using git cmd
below. The policy does not apply to non-Intel (C) notices.
git log --follow -C90% --format=%ad --date default <file> | tail -1
and then pull just the 4 digit year from the result.
Intel copyrights were not added to files where Intel either had
no contribution ot the contribution lacked substance (ie license
header updates, formatting changes, etc). Contribution date used
"--follow -C95%" to get the most accurate date.
Note that several files in this patch didn't end the license/(c)
block with a blank comment line so these were added as the vast
majority of files do have this last blank line. Simply there for
consistency.

Multiprocess is only supported by a few libraries (e.g. NVMe driver).
Other libraries that don't support it will often fail on mempool
initialization when running as a secondary process, as the mempools are
already created by the primary process. But the error messages are
vague and don't indicate why this happened. So, this patch adds a check
to see if a mempool exists after spdk_mempool_create() fails and prints
an error message informing users that multiprocess is unsupported.

In SPDK, declarations have the return type on the same line. Definitions
have the return type on a separate line. Astyle has an option for
enforcing this. Unfortunately, it seems to have two bugs:
1) It doesn't work correctly at all on C++ files.
2) It often fails on functions that return enums, or long type names
Deal with 1) by adjusting the check_format.sh script to only tell astyle
to fix return type line breaks for C files and not C++. Deal with 2) by
adding a few typedefs to work around the problem.

Many open source projects have moved to using SPDX identifiers
to specify license information, reducing the amount of
boilerplate code in every source file. This patch replaces
the bulk of SPDK .c, .cpp and Makefiles with the BSD-3-Clause
identifier.
Almost all of these files share the exact same license text,
and this patch only modifies the files that contain the
most common license text. There can be slight variations
because the third clause contains company names - most say
"Intel Corporation", but there are instances for Nvidia,
Samsung, Eideticom and even "the copyright holder".
Used a bash script to automate replacement of the license text
with SPDX identifier which is checked into scripts/spdx.sh.

The rdma buffer for stripping DIF metadata is added. CPU strips the DIF
metadata and copies it to the rdma buffer, improving the rdma write
bandwith. The network bandwidth during 4KB random read test is increased
from 79 Gbps to 99 Gbps, the IOPS is increased from 2075K to 2637K.

however transport level listeners remain active.
This patch removes all transport listerners when
the transport is being destroyed.

We have very frequent failures when we run test/nvmf/host/multipath.sh
in the test pool.
Call stack showed nvmf_stop_listen_disconnect_qpairs() accessed
qpair->ctrlr even if qpair->ctrlr was NULL.
nvmf_stop_listen_disconnect_qpairs() did not check if qpair->ctrlr is
not NULL before accessing qpair->ctrlr->subsys.
When a qpair is added to a poll group, qpair->ctrlr is cleared to NULL.
The test code test/nvmf/host/multipath.sh executes multiple
reconnects for path error.
So a conflict might occur between adding a qpair to a poll group and
disconnecting a qpair in a poll group.
In this case, it may be acceptable even if we disconnect a qpair whose
qpair->ctrlr is NULL. It will be better than SIGSEGV.
Fixes one of the issues in #2300

Currently if we remove a listener from a subsystem, we
disconnect *all* qpairs that have the same transport ID
as the listener being removed.
Fix that, since we should only disconnect qpairs from
controllers associated with the subsystem that had the
listener removed.

Not every transport requires accept poller - transport specific
layer can have its own policy and way of handling new connection.
APIs to notify generic layer are already in place
- spdk_nvmf_poll_group_add
- spdk_nvmf_tgt_new_qpair
Having accept poller removed should simplify interrupt mode impl
in transport specific layer.

There is no need to sum SPDK_CEIL_DIV(length, io_unit_size) and
req->iovcnt as the later is always zero (assignment in spdk_nvmf_request_get_buffers).
Checking SPDK_CEIL_DIV(length, io_unit_size) is enough.

Custom transport may not provide the `qpair_abort_request`
callback function, so here for transport API we will just
call it when it's not empty. We will add the callback
support with vfio-user in another patch.

The max_io_size transport option should be a power of 2 and be >= 8KB.
Max data tranfer size is defined in NVMe-oF spec as 2^(mdts cmd field) * 4KB.
Mdts cmd field is calculated as spdk_u32log2(transport->opts.max_io_size / 4096),
so max_io_size < 8KB results in mdts=0, which means no size limit (according to spec).
User can set max_io_size = 0 explicitly to allow no size limit.

This change refactors the way nvmf_get_stats RPC works.
The RPC layer passes JSON write context to custom dump function defined within transport ops.
The RPC layer no longer needs to know the structure of transport poll group statictics.
Functions and structures used in the previous flow have been deprecated and will be removed.
JSON returned for RDMA transport should be the same as before this change.

With new spdk_nvmf_transport_listen function it should be possible to
add generic options without breaking API/ABI. For now it only delivers
json parameters which can be decoded on a transport specific layer.
This is similar to what was done for spdk_nvmf_transport_create and opts there.

As part of FC transport destroy, FC LLD (Low level Driver) needs to
to do its cleanup which cannot be completed synchronously. So
allow transport destroy to be asynchronous.

As part of nvmf_transport_qpair_fini, FC transport needs to cleanup
all the resources used by that QPair on the shared hardware. This
hardware cleanup is asynchronous in nature.
FC transport code to use this functionality will be pushed shortly.

When we try to evenly divide transport buffers between poll grouos,
e.g. when we run spdk_tgt on 8 cores, set num_shared_buffers=32768
and pg buf_cache_size=4096, the last pg can't retrieve enough
buffers to fill cache. In my case if only got 4040 buffers out of
4096. Missing 56 buffers were cached by previous poll groups.
That occurred due to mempool has per lcore cache of 512 elements
and when it becomes empty, the cache is refilled. It seems that
each poll group cached extra 8 buffers.
The issue doesn't occur when we use mempool_get_bulk.

SPDK poller uses microsecond as the input parameter, so we need to
change the correct value when opts.association_timeout is expressed
by millisecond.

After CC.EN transitions to ‘0’ (due to shutdown or reset), the
association between the host and controller shall be preserved for at
least 2 minutes. After this time, the association may be removed if
the controller has not been re-enabled.

This API differs from spdk_nvmf_tranpsort_stop_listen in
that it also disconnects the qpairs associated with
that listener.

State machine is different among NVMe-oF transports and is
encapsulated to the transport neutral NVMe-oF controller and
NVMe-oF qpair.
To implement abort operation for each NVMe-oF transport,
add a function pointer qpair_abort_request to struct spdk_nvmf_transport_ops
and a stub nvmf_transport_qpair_abort_request() to encapsulate
which transport is used.
The following patches will implement qpair_abort_request for each
transport. Each qpair_abort_request() is responsible to call
spdk_nvmf_request_complete() for the abort request.

We callocated the listener, but if we to execute the listening
behaviors which got failed, and all the other resources have been released,
only left listener.
Fixes issue #1326.

This was recently made asynchronous to support virtualized transports.
However, we're moving to add a new call to associated a listener with a
subsystem to transports and the operation that needed to be asynchronous
will actually be performed there. For simplicity, make this synchronous
again.

This defines the official interface that NVMe-oF target
transports may use. For now, all code is just copied
from elsewhere. Eventually we'll want to add doxygen
comments.

The resources allocated to a queue pair do not need to be directly
correlated to the queue size requested by the initiator in NVMe-oF, as
long as enough resources are present. The RDMA transport, for instance,
does complex pooling of the resources behind the scenes when using a
shared receive queue.
Simplify the resource allocation for a TCP qpair to just always allocate
the max allowed queue size right away. This is a configurable parameter,
so system administrators can adjust for their needs. The initiator may
then request a queue size less than or equal to that, which will only be
enforced by queue depth counting and not impact the actual number of
resources allocated on the target.
This change relies on the MaxC2HSize being equal to the Maximum Data
Transfer Size (MDTS) reported. That is the default configuration, but
MDTS is configurable. Changing the MDTS with this patch to a value
larger than 128k will cause the target to break. This is addressed in
the next patch in this series.
