c03985a068 bdev: Copy data asynchronously when bounce buffer is used
This patch is a preparation for enabling of memory domains
pull/psuh functionality. Since memory domains API is
asynchronous, this patch makes asynchronous operations
with bounce buffers.

8926303b59 nvme: Caller polls qpair until disconnected if async connect failed
nvme_transport_ctrlr_connect_qpair() calls
nvme_transport_ctrlr_disconnect_qpair() if failed.

If async qpair disconnect is supported, even when connect qpair failed,
nvme_transport_ctrlr_connect_qpair() may complete asynchronously later.

The cases that qpair->async is set to true are I/O qpair for the NVMe
bdev module and admin qpair.

example/nvme/perf and example/nvme/reconnect use I/O qpair but both
set qpair->async to false.

For the NVMe bdev module, I/O qpair is connected when creating I/O
channel or resetting ctrlr. If spdk_nvme_ctrlr_connect_io_qpair()
returns 0 for a I/O qpair, the qpair is in a poll group and is polled
by spdk_nvme_poll_group_process_completions() and a disconnected
callback is called to the qpair. Hence we do not need to add additional
polling for I/O qpair in the NVMe bdev module.

21322e01dd nvme: Separate spdk_nvme_ctrlr_disconnect() into disconnect and after it
Serparate spdk_nvme_ctrlr_disconnect() into nvme_ctrlr_disconnect()
and nvme_ctrlr_disconnect_done() to call nvme_ctrlr_disconnect_done()
after adminq is actually disconnected when disconnecting adminq
asynchronously.

The following patches will add a new flag is_disconnecting to struct
spdk_nvme_ctrlr and prevent us from setting ctrlr->is_failed to true
between nvme_ctrlr_disconnect() and nvme_ctrlr_disconnect_done().

By this patch, nvme_ctrlr_disconnect() and nvme_ctrlr_disconnect_done()
are executed in the same context. So it is not possible to set
ctrlr->is_failed to true between nvme_ctrlr_disconnect() and
nvme_ctrlr_disconnect_done().

Hence nvme_ctrlr_disconnect_done() does not have to clear ctrlr->is_failed
again.

cfe11bd1db nvme: Factor out operations done after disconnect qpair completes
This is a preparation to make nvme_transport_ctrlr_disconnect_qpair()
asynchronous.

For nvme_transport_ctrlr_disconnect_qpair(), factor out operations after
returning from transport's specific ctrlr_disconnect_qpair() into a helper
function nvme_transport_ctrlr_disconnect_qpair_done().

Then move nvme_transport_ctrlr_disconnect_qpair_done() into the end of

Additionally remove the operation to overwrite the qpair state to
DISCONNECTED from nvme_transport_connect_qpair_fail() because
this is duplicated and nvme_transport_ctrlr_disconnect_qpair() is responsible
to make the qpair disconnected even after it completes asynchronously.

1285481917 nvme: Free I/O qpair now even if it is in poll group completion
spdk_nvme_poll_group has followed spdk_nvme_qpair about how to
process I/O qpair deletion inside of a completion context.

spdk_nvme_qpair_process_completions() accesses qpair after
returning from nvme_transport_qpair_process_completions().

So this is reasonable.

On the other hand, if spdk_nvme_poll_group_process_completions()
can execute spdk_nvme_ctrlr_free_io_qpair() inside of a completion
context, the target qpair is ensured to be deleted after returning
from spdk_nvme_ctrlr_free_io_qpair(). Then the target qpair is
not accessed anymore in spdk_nvme_poll_group_process_completions().

Remove two variables, in_completion_context and num_qpairs_to_delete,
of spdk_nvme_transport_poll_group and the related code.

This change is really necessary to support the following case.

In the NVMe bdev module, a nvme_qpair has a qpair and a poll_group
channel. disconnected_qpair_cb calls spdk_nvme_ctrlr_free_io_qpair()
for the qpair and spdk_put_io_channel() to the poll_group_channel.
spdk_nvme_ctrlr_free_io_qpair() is executed after unwinding stack
but spdk_put_io_channel() is executed now. The callback to
spdk_put_io_channel() calls spdk_nvme_poll_group_destroy(). However,
spdk_nvme_ctrlr_free_io_qpair() is not executed. Hence
spdk_nvme_poll_group_destroy() fails.

Update the corresponding stub in unit test together.

9d0bd899ed nvmf: fix trid comparison for discovery subsystem entries
When generating a discovery log page, we will add entries
for the discovery subsystem for all listeners except the
one associated with the controller that generated the
log page command. We do this comparison using
spdk_nvme_transport_id_compare().

But this function compares the subnqn of the trid, and
the subnqn is not set in either of the trids that we
are comparing.

The listener's trid always has an empty subnqn, but
the source trid has an uninitialized subnqn when
we do the comparison. This means that sometimes the
subnqn may be empty (which always happens in debug
builds) but sometimes may contain garbage. This
means that sometimes an entry would be added to the
log, even for the trid of the discovery controller
that generated the command (meaning the discovery
controller would end up referring to itself which
is not allowed).

There is an even more subtle issue with this. If the
host reads just the log page header, the nvmf target
generates the entire log page, and just returns the
header contents. Let's say in this case, the source
trid has an empty subnqn, so we don't generate an entry
for it, and report numrec = X and genctr = Y. Then
the host reads the X log page entries. But now the
source trid is garbage, so a discovery log page entry
is returned, replacing one of the "real" log page
entries. And since genctr didn't change, the host
thinks the data is all valid, meaning there's a log
page entry for an NVM subsystem that ends up getting
dropped.

999f0362ab nvme_tcp: Remove qpair from group->needs_poll when removing it from poll_group

Then the following scenario is possible.

ctrlr_disconnected_qpair() calls spdk_sock_close(). Then any request may
complete and call _pdu_write_done(). qpair is still associated with a
poll_group and is inserted into the group->needs_poll list.
After ctrlr_disconnected_qpair() completes, disconnected_qpair_cb() is
called. disconnected_qpair_cb() calls spdk_nvme_ctrlr_free_io_qpair().
spdk_nvme_ctrlr_free_io_qpair() calls spdk_nvme_poll_group_remove().

spdk_nvme_poll_group() removes qpair only from the
group->disconnected_qpairs list.

Even after qpair->poll_group is nullified, qpair is still in the
group->needs_poll list.

Then spdk_nvme_poll_group_process_completions() polls all qpairs in
the group->needs_poll list and hits the assert.

6c3fdade83 vmd: reset root port config before enumeration
The root ports might have been configured by some other driver (e.g.
Linux kernel) prior to loading the SPDK one, so we need to clear it. We
need to before the scanning process, as it's depth-first, so when
scanning the initial root ports, the latter ones might still be using
stale configuration. This can lead to two bridges having the same
secondary/subordinate bus configuration, meaning that their config space
would map to the same memory area, which, of course, isn't correct.

This has manifested in issue #2413, where two root ports were configured
to use the same secondary bus. This caused an endpoint device to be
enumerated twice on two different root ports, with the first instance
being broken once the second port was configured by the SPDK driver.

Fixes #2413

c883771123 env/memory: fix unregistration of memory after memory registration issue
The current error handling of `spdk_mem_map_notify_walk` has off by 2
issue. This issue can split one memory region to multiple smaller

Also, in case of failure, the 1 GB maps of the map failed to be freed.

RDMA doesn't support this behavior and support calling the callback only

To speed up qpair lookup, an idea to use the DPDK hash library was
proposed. But we have some concerns for the idea, we may see performance
regression for small configuration, lib/nvmf is depending on the DPDK

On the other hand, RB tree is simple to use and is not likely to have
negative side effect.

To use RB tree easily, cache QP num into struct spdk_nvmf_rdma_qpair.

0b034da148 blob: add return codes to bs_user_op_abort
Prior to this patch bs_user_op_abort() always
returned EIO back to the bdev layer.

This is not sufficient for ENOMEM cases where
the I/O should be resubmitted by the bdev layer.

ENOMEM for bs_sequence_start() in bs_allocate_and_copy_cluster()
specifically addresses issue #2306.

f48130c97e lib/env_dpdk: Fixed using rte_compress_isal
When using --with-dpdk=dpdk/install option, we need to check if the
librte_compress_isal was built in DPDK before adding it to the list
of libs. rte_compress_isal is not built by DPDK if libisal is not
installed in the system.
