581e1bb576 nvme/rdma: Wait for completions of both RDMA RECV and SEND
In some situations we may get a completion of RDMA_RECV before
completion of RDMA_SEND and this can lead to a bug described in #1292
To avoid such situations we must complete nvme_request only when
we received both RMDA_RECV and RDMA_SEND completions.
Add a new field to spdk_nvme_rdma_req to store response idx -
it is used to complete nvme request when RDMA_RECV was completed
before RDMA_SEND
Repost RDMA_RECV when both RDMA_SEND and RDMA_RECV are completed
Side changes: change type of spdk_nvme_rdma_req::id to uint16_t,
repack struct nvme_rdma_qpair

Fixes #1292

55e0ec894f nvme: fix identify active ns
NVMe ctrlr init state machine shall be async whenever possible so it
is not blocking other code from processing. It can result in deadlock
when cmd producer and consumer are sharing the same thread.

This patch is making identify active ns async by introducing new
state to wait for completions.

76d8bbf3f8 nvme/opal: remove timeout
The timeout is designed for REVERT action, the REVERT needs
even several minutes based on different drives.  Due to the
REVERT is low level API, it does need a response from the drive,
even we returned the timeout to the user, the drive is still in
the REVERT state, and it can't be used anymore, so the timeout
here doesn't help anything, just remove it.

3add68e3d6 nvme/opal: remove opal_finalize_and_send()
Function opal_cmd_finalize() is OPAL command related, it's
part of the OPAL command construction, and opal_send_recv()
is low level security send/receive channel, so it's better
to use them separately.

ce25a45654 nvme/opal: allocate session instead of use the global one
Previously the OPAL library uses the global session which
is OK, because the drive can only support 1 session, for
now, we can change the code to use allocated session, this
can make the library to be used in asynchronous way.

5b767e1787 nvme/opal: remove callback from opal_finalize_and_send()
The function inside opal_finalize_and_send() will be executed
synchronously, so remove the callback will make the code more
clear.  Also rename the completion function with "_done" suffix.

No code logic change from this patch.

99e4374f8d lib/thread: Add busy count for poller to increment only when some work was done
Currently run count of poller has been incremented per execution.
It will be helpful for us to know how poller is busy by adding busy
count which is incremented only when some work is done.

spdk_thread_poll() has used the same timestamp in it, and so this is
the maximum we can do for now.

a12aae4c85 lib/thread: Add timeout to wait until exiting thread is exited
Set 5 seconds timeout to wait until exiting thread is exited into
spdk_thread_poll(). After the timeout, collect error log and then
move the thread to exited forcefully.

Add necessary unit test case accordingly.

e9aec6746a lib/thread: thread_poll() polls until the exiting thread is exited
Extract _spdk_thread_exit() from spdk_thread_exit() and
_spdk_thread_poll() calls _spdk_thread_exit() if the thread is in
the exiting state. spdk_thread_exit() changes to move the state to
the exiting state. The spdk_thread_poll() loop will end after the
thread moves to the exited state because the caller of
spdk_thread_poll() will check if the thread is in the exited state,
and break the loop if true.

If the user does not call spdk_thread_exit() explicitly, the reactor
has to terminate all existing threads at its shutdown. In this case,
multiple threads may have some dependency to release I/O channels or
unregister pollers. So the reactor has the large two loops, the first
loop calls spdk_thread_exit() on all threads, the second loop calls
spdk_thread_destroy() if exited or spdk_thread_poll() otherwise for
each thread until all threads are destroyed.

Besides, change the return value of spdk_thread_exit() to return
always 0. Keep it for ABI compatibility. Change ERRLOG to INFOLOG
for _spdk_thread_exit() because it is called repeatedly now. Remove
the check of I/O reference count from _spdk_thread_exit() because
_free_thread() cannot free I/O channel. Refine the unit test
accordingly.

Fixes issue #1288.

6397735bc9 lib/thread: Introduce thread state to distinguish exiting and exited
Add enum spdk_thread_state made of RUNNING, EXITING, and EXITED, and
the current state to struct spdk_thread.

The state EXITING is not actually used in this patch yet.

Replace the flag exit simply by the state EXITED.

e7ead00b53 lib/thread: Wait until thread_is_exited() is true by thread_poll() after thread_exit()
Following patches will require thread termination so that thread_exit()
will move thread to exiting, thread_poll() will move thread from
exiting to exited, thread_is_exited() will detect the threadis exited,
and then call thread_destroy().

So change all places as a preparation.

c9da0aecdc lib/thread: Ignore spdk_thread_exit() call after moving exited
Previously the caller had to check if thread is not exited when
it calls spdk_thread_exit().

Subsequent patches will change return type of spdk_thread_exit()
to void, and so include the check int spdk_thread_exit() in this
patch.

If spdk_thread_exit() is called when the thread is already exited,
collect INFOLOG and return normally.

This will make the next patch a little easier.

78accbf4e5 lib/event: Count reactor CPU stats (idle/busy tsc)
Following the idea of thread CPU stats, add reactor CPU stats.

Reactor CPU stats accumulates run time of spdk_thread_poll() calls
to idle TSC or busy TSC according to their return codes.

Add necessary unit tests.

1621809e7e nvmf/tcp: Correctly size the socket receive buffer
The code used to do this but it was removed when the buffering was
shifted down to the posix layer. Add a way for users of sockets
to still properly size the buffers.

This also means that by default, the receive buffering is not enabled
on sockets. That matches the behavior of the previous release.

24d61956ab nvme: Init the status object when tracking the req completion
Currently nvme_completion_poll_status object is allocated using
malloc, so it may cotnain some garbage. In some scenarious
nvme_completion_poll_cb can be triggered before we enter
spdk_nvme_wait_for_completion_*. In that case status object
will be freed by nvme_completion_poll_cb if it contains a
garbage in `timed_out` field. Later spdk_nvme_wait_for_completion
will work with already freed memory.
Fix - allocate nvme_completion_poll_status object using
calloc and explicitly zerofy it before usage

Fixes #1292

c998c6c69e nvme: add API for qpair poll groups.
This API will allow us to simplify the polling mechanism for qpairs on a single
thread. It also will pave the way for doing transport specific aggregation of
qpair polling to increase performance.

The generic implementation is included. The transport specific calls
have yet to be implemented.

7b4558e356 lib/nvme: add a new API function for connecting I/O qpairs
connect_io_qpair essentially allows us to split the qpair allocation process
in half which will make it possible for us to do more sophisticated things
with RDMA qpairs in poll groups. as a companion to this new API, a connect_only
option has been added to the io_qpair_opts struct which instructs alloc_io_qpair
to only allocate the qpair and not connect it.

c7325e3fad lib/blob: assert that md_page is not extent page
Contidion previous to this should already verify that
md page is not an extent page.

All extent pages are not part of the chain (sequence_num == 0),
and their location (ctx->cur_page) cannot be the root of
md chain (page->id).

Yet during development it could appen, so adding assert
to verify further that the md page is not extent page.

955c58fa68 lib/blob: change replay of extent pages to batching
Before this patch reading out the extent pages during
blobstore replay was serialized. Only issuing reads for next
extent page when previous operation finished.

This was done by continously calling _spdk_bs_load_replay_extent_page_cpl()
and decreasing ctx->num_extent_pages.

This patch changes spdk_bs_sequence_* to spdk_bs_batch_*.
All the reads are submitted at once, and only when all of them
finish we proceed to next valid md chain.

Goal of this change is improving efficiency and readability.

e71e81b631 sock: keep track of removed sockets during call to poll
We have been intermittently hitting the assert where
we check sock->cb_fn != NULL in spdk_sock_group_impl_poll_count.

The only way we could be hitting this specific error is if we
wereremoving a socket from a sock group within after receiving
an event for it.

Specifically, we are seeing this error on the NVMe-oF TCP target
which relies on posix sockets using epoll.

The man page for epoll states the following:

 If you use an event cache or store all the file descriptors
 returned from epoll_wait(2), then make sure to provide
 a  way  to  mark its closure dynamically (i.e., caused by
 a previous event's processing).  Suppose you receive 100 events
 from epoll_wait(2), and in event #47 a condition causes event
 #13 to be closed.  If you remove  the  structure  and close(2)
 the file descriptor for event #13, then your event cache might
 still say there are events waiting for that file descriptor
 causing confusion.

 One solution for this is to call, during the processing
 of  event  47,  epoll_ctl(EPOLL_CTL_DEL)  to  delete  file
 descriptor  13 and close(2), then mark its associated data
 structure as removed and link it to a cleanup list.  If
 you find another event for file descriptor 13 in your batch
 processing, you will discover the file descriptor  had
 been previously removed and there will be no confusion.

Since we do store all of the file descriptors returned from
epoll_wait, we need to implement the tracking mentioned above.

55df83ceb6 ENV_DPDK/VFIO: Increase PCI tear down timeout
When removing large number of devices (>8) in parallel,
the 20ms timeout is not long enough.

As part of spdk_detach_cb, DPDK calls into the VFIO driver
which may get delayed due to multiple hot removes being
processed by pciehp driver (pciehp IRQ thread function
is handling the actual removal of a device in paralle but
all of the IRQ thread function compete for a global mutex
increasing processing time and race conditions).

eb341e7d32 lvol: do not refer to blob when create returned error
Recent improvements to blobstore code, allow proper
reporting whenever error occured.

Callback for blob_create, should not refer to the blob
pointer when the operation failed.
Defer checking spdk_blob_get_id(blob), til after checking
error code.

This has been encountered in "vhost_boot" test:

597c91abdf lib/blob: always add back the snapshot if delete fails
After opening the blob for deletion, in _spdk_bs_delete_open_cpl(),
the blob is removed from list of blobs in blobstore.
This is to prevent future _spdk_blob_lookup()s from referencing
blob while it is deleted.

In usual blob deletion path, next step is proceeding with deletion
of the blob by reducing its size to 0 and syncing the blob.
Changes from this point forward are persisted.

Meanwhile in special case of deleting snapshot which has single clone
on it, before above occurs additional steps are performed.
Each of the blobs are opened and their attributes changed.
Failures on those steps are fully recoverable on any errors,
and in such case blob should be added back to the bs list of blobs.

Original code had condition on how many references there were
to blob being deleted, which is incorrect.
Any error on that path should clean up after itself (revert attributes
and close blobs) and re-add the blob.

This change is tested with blob_delete_snapshot_power_failure() UT,
by adding error path in persist - which triggers error in aforementioned
blob delete code path.

9dd7c9f18b lib/blob: Set thin_provision back when sync fails on snapshot creation
When creating snapshot, 'original' blob will end up being a thin provisioned clone.
Before that first thin_provisioned 'newblob' is created during this process.

If the first md sync for 'newblob' fails, it means that only valid references to
clusters are still only present in 'original' blob. The 'newblob' can be safely
cleaned up.

Unfortunetly 'newblob' inherited some of 'original' blob properties before sync.
Cluster maps were already swaped in current cleanup code. But during blob close
of 'newblob' - persist blob code expects clusters to be 0 only for thin_provisioned
blobs. If original blob was thick, then it triggers an assert within persist code.

This patch makes sure to set thin_provision to 'newblob', to align with its creation.

Added asserts to verify that clusters maps are 0's, which should be the case
as I/O to origblob is frozen.

68d3bb2de4 nvme: save separate metadata size to nvme request
Previously the SPDK NVMe driver always set PSDT to 01b for hardware SGLs
which is aligned to the Linux NVMe driver, for this case the metadata length
is not required when filling the NVMe command fields.  There is no alignment
nor granularity requirement for Data Blocks for PSDT 01b case.  And if the
drive reported that it needs dword alignment with SGL, for this case, when
using spearate metadata, it needs a length parameter to fill the SGL descriptor.

fcc5993f5f nvme: reserve a metadata SGL entry when PSDT uses 10b
When the drives report that SGL dword alignment is required in
Identify Controller data structure, when using separate metadata,
PSDT should only be set with 10b.  The specification says: If PSDT
01b was used, Metadata Pointer (MPTR) contains an address of a
single contiguous physical buffer that is byte aligned.

For supporting this case, SPDK driver needs a metadata SGL entry,
so we can reserve one entry in the tracker data structure.

1c5444d623 nvmf: Queue Connect command when subsystem is paused
Currently SPDK rejects Connect command when subsystem is not active.
This change allows to queue Connect command and execute it when
the subsystem goes back to active state. To queue the command we
should know subsystem_poll_group, in current implementation
this poll_group is known only when controller is already created.
To get the poll_group for Connect command we can retrive subsystem
subnqn, find subsystem and get poll_group by subsystem->id.

Increment subsystem_poll_group->io_outstanding even for Connect
cmd in order to prevent subsystem change state during the
connection process. Update spdk_nvmf_request_complete -
decrement io_outstanding for Connect cmd.

a5836c6d99 nvme/opal: introduce a session concept disaggregate data buffers
Althrough the controller can only support 1 session, but we can refactor
the OPAL internal APIs running based on session, then we can allocate
a session from public APIs, currently we just use the session that
embedded in the global device structure.

No actual logic change from this patch.

35aab73cc2 nvme/opal: using malloc data buffer instead of global buffer in discovery
Althrough the drive reports that only one session and one comID are
supported, and it can only support synchronous method, but it should
allow users to send multiple security send/receive commands at the
same time.  Looking back the implementation of existing library, it
works but not so good, here as the first step, we will not use the
global data buffer for security receive command when doing level 0
discovery.

0a992c64c7 lib/vhost: Fix passing wrong data to callback to vhost_dev_foreach_session()
Not context passed to vhost_dev_for_each_session() but struct
spdk_vhost_session had been passed to the callback to
vhost_dev_for_each_session() by mistake.

This patch fixes the bug. Besides, rename ctx by ev_ctx to avoid
potential future degradation.

2139be1598 lib/thread: spdk_thread_poll() measures run time per call by reading end TSC
Update spdk_thread_poll() to count SPDK thread stats correctly on multiple
SPDK threads per reactor configuration.

spdk_thread_poll() gets start time and reads TSC at end as end time,
and then gets delta between them as run time. Run time is added to idle
time or busy time according to the result of polling.

Reactor overhead is included into the next thread which calls
spdk_thread_poll() now.

spdk_thread_poll() saves the end time to the current thread to use it
as the start time of the next thread.

Unit test framework for this patch and the next patch need to access
thread->tsc_last. In the next patch, reactor will use the end time of
the current thread to the start time of the next thread in reactor_run()
to realize the idea.

Hence add an new API spdk_thread_get_last_tsc(). The corresponding
variable is named as tsc_last and it is good and is aligned with
DPDK (DPDK has used tsc_start and tsc_end as variable name). But
last_tsc will be better as API name because the last TSC value is
easier to understand.

Then add necessary unit test and update the unit test framework.

458214e2e7 nvme/opal: remove the revert asynchronous API
The revert asynchronous API doesn't run as the *real* asynchronous
way, because the drive can only support synchronous module and only
1 session is supported.  The reason why we added this API is that
RPC call has the default timeout value here, while the revert may
take over several minutes, the API itself doesn't short the revert
action, so just remove it and use the synchronous API instead.

The revert action will erase all the users data and bring the drive
back to the factory state, it should run in the synchronous mode,
so just remove the asynchronous API and we can increase the timeout
value when using RPC to call this API.

8c1d107487 nvme/opal: add erase locking range method support
The previous erase locking range API didn't take the real
erase action, it's kind of secure erase, so rename it with
another name and add the real erase support.

This method is used to cryptographically erase user data within
a specific LBA Range and to reset the access control Locking
of that LBA Range.

The TPer SHALL reset the ReadLockEnabled, WriteLockEnabled,
ReadLocked, and WriteLocked column values to False for the
Locking object on which the method is invoked.

28a44891f1 lib/blob: add error path on persisting dirty bs
super->clean value signifies if blobstore was unloaded
cleanly.
If it was not, then during bs_load the _spdk_bs_recover()
procedure if called.

Meanwhile bs->clean is always set to 1 after load, causing very first
blob_persist to also re-write super block with the super->clean
set to 0. To signify that md has changed and possibly trigger
the recovery if clean bs unload does not occur.
When the re-write of super block succeeds the bs->clean is set to 0,
because further re-writes of super block are not needed on next
blob persist.

This patch resolves issue when:
1) reading super block fails - execution should backoff, to prevent
writing an empty buffer as super block !
2) writing super->clean = 0 to the super block fails - execution
again should fail, and bs->clean should not be set to 0. It will
cause next persist to attempt re-write again.

0f5157377f lib/blob: merge EP of a clone when deleting a snapshot
In general it is not possible to delete snapshot when
there are clones on top of it.
There is special case when there is just a single clone
on top that snapshot.

In such case the clone is 'merged' with snapshot.
Unallocated clusters in clone, are filled with the ones
in snapshot (if allocated there).

Similar behavior should have occurred for extent pages.

This patch adds the implementation for moving EP from
snapshot to clone along with UT.

The UT exposes the issue by allowing delete_blob
to proceed beyond just unrecoverable snapshot blob.

c3d0a83347 nvme/rdma: Move post WRs on send/recv queue after poll CQ
If nvme_rdma_qpair_submit_sends() returns -ENOMEM,
nvme_rdma_qpair_process_completions() returns immediately.
In this case, nvme_rdma_qpair_process_completions() does not
poll CQ.

However, nvme_rdma_qpair_process_completions() can poll CQ even
when there is no free slot in SQ.

Hence move nvme_rdma_qpair_submit_sends() and
nvme_rdma_qpair_submit_recvs() after the loop to poll CQ.

nvme_rdma_qpair_submit_sends() and nvme_rdma_qpair_submit_recvs()
output error log and so checking return code of them is not
necessary and is removed in this patch.

This fixes part of the github issue #1271.

a4a8080fad lib/thread: Factor out main loops of spdk_thread_poll() into a helper function
This is another preparation to extende spdk_thread_poll() to update
thread stats correctly on multiple SPDK threads per CPU core
configuration as an new function spdk_thread_poll_ext().

As another preparation, factor out main loops of spdk_thread_poll()
to _spdk_thread_poll(). _spdk_thread_poll() will be called in
spdk_thread_poll_ext() in the next patch.

82ef75748a lib/thread: Factor out updating thread stats from spdk_thread_poll()
Subsequent patches will extend spdk_thread_poll() to update
thread stats correctly on multiple SPDK threads per CPU core
configuration as an new function spdk_thread_poll_ext().

Thread stats will be updated separately by spdk_thread_poll() and
spdk_thread_poll_ext(), but updating thread stats itself is
the common operation.

Hence as a preparation, factor out updating thread stats operation
from spdk_thread_poll() to _spdk_thread_update_stats().

5e2101ceb2 rdma: Correct WR type checking
The previous patch ce6b8a1313
added a wrong assumption that every WC of RDMA_WR_TYPE_DATA
type must point to rdma_req with IBV_WC_RDMA_READ opcode since
RDMA_WRITE operations are non-signaled. However it is wrong
since in the case of error all WRs will have WCs. Revert part
of the problematic patch.

2fa51eeb46 lib/nvmf: Make spdk_nvmf_poll_group_destroy() asynchronous
The next patch will create poll group threads dynamically for
NVMe-oF target, and will need to wait for completion of poll group and
I/O channel destroy. This is a preparation for the next patch.

Add callback function and its argument to spdk_nvmf_poll_group_destroy(),
and to struct spdk_nvmf_poll_group, respectively.

The callback has not only cb_arg but also status as its parameters even
if the next patch always sets the status to zero. The reason is to follow
spdk_nvmf_tgt_destroy's callback and to process any case that the status
is nonzero in future.

spdk_nvmf_poll_group_destroy() sets the passed callback to the passed
poll group.

Then spdk_nvmf_tgt_destroy_poll_group() calls the held callback in the
end.

This change will ensure all pollers are being unregistered and
all I/O channels are being released.

628dc9c162 lib/iscsi: Return when connection state is already exited at login completion
iSCSI target got segmentation fault if connection is being exited
between spdk_iscsi_conn_write_pdu() and its callback
iscsi_conn_login_pdu_success_complete() are executed.

This was caused by recent asynchronous socket write feature.

Fixes issue #1278.

7f82fb653d nvme/rdma: Move stale connection retries to connect call.
This gives us a more standard path in the create_io_qpair path. Eventually
this will allow us to bring the connection commands out to the generic layer
in alloc_io_qpair. Then we can split the calls to create and connect at the
generic level making it possible to add rdma qpairs to a poll group in a meaningful
way.

7f6eeaac7d lib/ftl: Fix hung up for bdev_ftl_create with wrong block size of zone bdev
If we specify zone bdev whose block size is not 4096 for bdev_ftl_create
RPC, SPDK application will hung up because spdk_io_device_unregister()
is called for unregistered IO device. Fix this error.

daa8f941e4 nvme: extend ctrlr opts with admin queue size
Align rdma and tcp to respect opts. Reduce default number of entries
for admin queue so it becomes memory optimization.

Linux driver by default creates admin queue with 32 depth, there is no
good reason to enlarge that queue by default within SPDK NVMe driver.

fbb77a56c8 lib/event: Factor out the main polling loop from _spdk_reactor_run()
It was too difficult for us to add unit test for _spdk_reactor_run()
because the main polling loop in _spdk_reactor_run() was infinite
if g_reactor_state is SPDK_REACTOR_STATE_RUNNING.

Factor out the main polling loop and rusage update in _spdk_reactor_run()
into a helper function reactor_run().

This improves the code readability as well.

68161ffc00 lib/event: Put period for getrusage() into struct spdk_reactor
This is a preparation to the next patch which factors out the main
polling loop of _spdk_reactor_run() into a helper function reactor_run().

One of the subsequent patches will support CPU power saving by
adding sleep into reactor_run(). We should not insert sleep between
the main polling loop and getrusage() because now is got before
entering the main polling loop.

To put getrusage() into reactor_run(), we need to maintain last_rusage
in struct spdk_reactor and maintain g_rusage_period as a global
variable. This patch does these changes.

c61b70c3d5 nvme/opal: rename spdk_opal_init_dev() and spdk_opal_close() with construct/destruct suffix
Since the OPAL here is just for NVMe device, so we don't need to use dev_handler as common
handler, just rename it to spdk_nvme_ctrlr.  And we don't exit the initialization if
OPAL construnction had a failure.  Also move the timeout initialization to construct().

baf3e12c09 lib/vhost: Replace poll group per session by thread per controller
Currently each controller is associated with one of the poll groups.
For each controller, all sessions are associated with the poll
groups with which the corresponding controller is associated.

Vhost poll group does not have any polling loop but its usage was
very complex.

Association of controller with poll group is done based on the
specified cpumask, and poll group is created per CPU core.

This is as same as association of thread with CPU core.

So in this patch, replace poll group per session by thread per
controller.

The next patch will create a SPDK thread in vhost_dev_register()
and exit the SPDK thread in vhost_dev_unregister().

As a preparation, simplify error paths in vhost_dev_register()
by changing some gotos to return, moving free after the out label,
and moving insertion after succeeding vhost_register_unix_socket().

0b0f0c5415 rpc: Add thread_get_pollers RPC
Add an new JSON RPC thread_get_pollers to retrieve pollers of all
the threads. By adding a helper function spdk_poller_state_str(),
output poller state as string to improve readability. Most of the
code of thread_get_stats and thread_get_pollers are common and so
unify these two RPCs as possible as we can.

Sample output of thread_get_stats RPC in doc/jsonrpc.md was wrong
because thread_get_stats doesn't output ticks. Fix this together.

01ea524068 lib/ftl: Create l2p on l2p_path file if set in config
New spdk_ftl_conf parameter l2p_path, l2p_path defines
location of existing pmem file or device to use as l2p table.

ftl_dev_l2p_alloc now has two flows:
1. If l2p_path is set perform pmem_map_file (PMDK) of l2p_size on it
2. Else malloc l2p table as usual

l2p_get/set will use atomic_load/store on both of those storage
locations as PMDK pmem_memcpy family of functions is not thread safe.

a9c79c3337 env_dpdk: Fix error when using vfio with noiommu
When using vfio with enable_unsafe_noiommu_mode=Y, force iova-mode
as "pa" here for DPDK guesses it's "va", which cause the following

bdbe33e663 lib/iscsi: Add a assert for conn->sock
In some cases, conn->sock will be lost, while conn pointer will still be.
A runtime error will apperars: null pointer of type 'struct spdk_sock'.
This only happens when ./configure with asan.
So I add a sssert to display this error explicitly when it occurs.

1914de0920 blobfs: start a poller to do cache buffer reclaim regularly
Currently we will free the cache buffers in the file R/W
data path, however we can start a thread to do the cache
buffer reclaim regulary, so that we don't need to free
the cache buffer in the Rocksdb thread context.  By
doing this, we can also remove the global cache buffer
lock in following patches.

d4653a31e0 env_dpdk: dont treat NULL as error in spdk_map_bar_rte()
We use `spdk_map_bar_rte()` to read mapped addresses
from PCI BARs.
This function is currently checking for NULL in each pair.
But in PCI memory, some registers can be left unused,
in which case they are set to 0.
As a result, we may read some NULL pointers from BARs,
which is OK.
To check if given address is indeed invalid, we should first
check if it is used.
So it is best to delegate such checks to the
user of this function.
In fact, users already do the NULL check where it is needed
(ex: virtio_pci.c:390, nvme_pcie.c:589)
so this patch just removes them from `spdk_map_bar_rte()`.

This solves github issue #1206

b992bb4e46 lib/thread: Add API spdk_poller_register_named() to set arbitrary name
Add an new API spdk_poller_register_named() to set arbitrary name
to the created poller. If NULL, the name is set to the pointer of
the poller function.

To set the name to the string of the poller function name conveniently,
add an new macro SPDK_POLLER_REGISTER() together in this patch.

All debug or error logs are changed to output poller name from pointer.

The added name will be used in the new RPC thread_get_pollers.

To avoid adding JSON related code into lib/thread/thread.c, expose
struct spdk_thread internally among SPDK libraries and RPC code will
access it.

The next patch will expose struct spdk_poller internally among
SPDK library for the same purpose.

35fdf2dd9e lib/ftl: write buffer batches
This patch adds the ftl_batch strucutre, which describes a single batch
of data to be written to the disk.  It's comprised of multiple write
buffer entries (the actual number depends on the write unit size of the
underyling device).

Additionally, a function responsible for filling out a batch was added.
It iterates over available IO channels and dequeues submitted write
buffer entries until a batch is completed.  The IO channel queue is
shifted, so that each time the function is called a subsequent IO
channel is used first, which guarantees that all channels are treated
fairly.

bfafd4e472 lib/ftl: IO channel array
The IO channel pointers are now stored inside an array of the device
they belong to.  Once write buffer entries are tied to IO channels,
it'll provide a method for dereferencing an entry from its address.

085bfa0d13 lib/ftl: allocate separate memory for IO channels
This is the first patch of a series that replaces single global write
buffer with per-io_channel buffers.  This change is intended to improve
performance for multithreaded workloads.

This patch changes the way the ftl_io_channels are allocated by only
keeping an ftl_io_channel pointer inside spdk_io_channel's context.  It
allows for delaying IO channel destruction, which in turn allows the FTL
to iterate over all exisiting IO channels without locking.

a4335feb6d lib/event: Support SPDK_THREAD_OP_RESCHED operation in reactor
Add a flag resched to check if reschedule operation is requested
to struct spdk_lw_thread. Add _reactor_resquest_thread_reschedule()
to set the resched flag, and add it to the case SPDK_THREAD_OP_RESCHED
in spdk_reactor_thread_op(), and return true in the case
SPDK_THREAD_OP_RESCHED in spdk_reactor_thread_op_supported().

Then _spdk_reactor_run() checks if the resched flag is true for each
thread. If true, set the resched flag to false, and remove the
thread and call _reactor_schedule_thread(). Add continue to avoid
use-after-free issue for both reschedule and terminate cases.

This idea follows voluntary thread termination and will remove our
worries for all complicated rare cases.

Add unit test case to verify this update.

c6bca349da lib/ftl: Replace reloc spdk_ring with STAILQ
Since relocation can be done only on core thread there is
no need for spdk_ring. Move queue size is limited by
reloc->max_qdepth so we are trying to iterate over all

Add transport_ack_timeout parameter to nvme controller opts.
This parameter allows to configure RDMA ACK timeout according
to the formula 4.096 * 2^(transport_ack_timeout) usec.
The parameter should be in range 0..31 where 0 means use
driver-specific default value.

Add an new API spdk_thread_set_cpumask() and enum SPDK_THREAD_OP_RESCHED.

spdk_thread_set_cpumask() can be called only from the current thread
and requires SPDK thread operation supports reschedule operation.

spdk_thread_set_cpumask() updates the cpumask of the current thread to
the specified value, and then invokes framework's reschedule operation
to the thread.

If spdk_thread_set_cpumask() calls multiple times in a single
spdk_thread_poll() context, the last value will be used in the
reschedule operation.

Remove the prefix "spdk" from spdk_reactor_schedule_thread(), add

For SPDK_THREAD_OP_NEW, spdk_reactor_thread_op() calls
_reactor_schedule_thread() and spdk_reactor_thread_op_supported()
returns true.

Then replace spdk_thread_lib_init() by spdk_thread_lib_init_ext()

d82d69017f lib/thread: Add spdk_thread_lib_init_ext() and generic thread operation function
Add enum spdk_thread_op and two function typedefs spdk_thread_op_fn
and spdk_thread_op_supported_fn.

The first operation type of enum spdk_thread_op is SPDK_THREAD_OP_NEW,
and it is used as an alternative to spdk_new_thread_fn.

Add global variables, g_thread_op_fn and g_thread_op_supported_fn, and
then add spdk_thread_lib_init_ext() to initialize these.
spdk_thread_lib_init() requires both of thread_op_fn and
thread_op_supported_fn are specified or not specified.

spdk_thread_create() calls g_thread_op_fn() with SPDK_THREAD_OP_NEW
if g_new_thread_fn is NULL, g_thread_op_supported_fn is not NULL,
and g_thread_op_supported_fn(SPDK_THREAD_OP_NEW) returns true.

Update unit test to test these addition.

515733ca4a lib/thread: Add unique ID for each created SPDK thread
Add an unique ID for each created SPDK thread. Use a single 64 bits
variable, g_thread_id, and guard its update by the global mutex
g_devlist_mutex. For our safety, further thread creation is not
allowed if g_thread_id rolls over, and request user to restart SPDK
application.

Besides, as a minor update, move the debug log down and add ID to it
in spdk_thread_create(), and ID is added to thread_get_stats RPC and
framework_get_reactors RPC.

The thread ID will be used to set the cpumask of the running thread
to the specified value in the subsequent patches.

bad2c8e86c nvme: detach the controller in STUB and flush the admin active requests at last
In the autotest, when calling kill_stub() function, there is error log
like this: "Device 0000:83:00.0 is still attached at shutdown!", so it's
better to detach the controller when exit the stub process.

But after call spdk_nvme_detach() in the stub process, there is another issue:
1. NVMe stub running as the primary process, and it will send 4 AERs.
2. Using NVMe reset tool as the secondary process.

When doing NVMe reset from the secondary process, it will abort all the
outstanding requests, so for the 4 AERs from the primary process, the 4
requests will be added to the active_proc->active_reqs list.

When calling spdk_nvme_detach() to detach a controller, there is a
assertion in the nvme_ctrlr_free_processes() at last to check the
active requests list of this active process data structure.

We can add a check before destructing the controller to poll the
completion queue, so that the active requests list can be flushed.

4f7fa18d69 nvme: export internal security send/receive APIs as public APIs
There are synchronous security send/receive APIs defined in nvme.h,
however, we still need the asynchronous APIs so that we can make the
OPAL library can be used in asynchronous way. As the asynchronous APIs

b3be320de4 vbdev: close the base bdev on its opened thread
With the JSON configure, the base device will be opened on the
same thread (RPC thread) to handle the JSON operation. Later the
virtual device upon the base device can be opened on another
thread. At the time of virtual device destruction, the base
device is also closed at the thread where opening the virtual
device, it is actually different than the original thread where
this base device is opened through the JSON configure.

Add a thread here to record the exact thread where the base
device is opened and then later route it back to handle the base
device close operation.

Using bdevperf, for example, with CBDMA on a malloc backend
with zcopy disabled, 16 messages like this would appear on
exist (each for a different BDF):

Device 0000:00:04.0 is still attached at shutdown!

030be573f3 lib/blob: queue up blob persists when one already is ongoing
It is possible for multiple blob persists to affect one another.
Either by blob->state changes or blob mutable data.
Safe way to prevent that is to queue up the persists.

Next persist will be executed only after previous one completes.

dd80edb2b4 lib/blob: move starting persist to separate function
_spdk_blob_persist_check_dirty() function will be
called in subsequent patch at the end of persist
in _spdk_blob_persist_complete() to proceed
with any queued up persists.

beaf69617a blobfs: try to free a valid file cache buffer when allocating new caches
When allocating a new cache buffer, we will pick up a file and try to
free cache buffers with this file, but sometimes the file lock maybe
hold by other thread, so we use pthread_spin_trylock() here, when
pthread_spin_trylock() return a negative value, we will break the
loop, this is not efficient as the orginal logic, which may result
cache buffer allocation failure, so we will break the loop only when
there is a valid cache free.

4a3bf3a942 lib/ftl: use user's iovec instead of copying it
There's no need to copy user's iovec, as it's bound to be valid until
request's completion.  Storing a pointer to user's iovec is both faster
and simplifies the IO allocation path.
